Popular Animation Techniques Used In Film Industry

During 20th century , animation film industry was using traditional animation to make the images to move. For the purpose of this industry was hiring the people, who provided several hand draw images. These images the arranged in a sequence and moved in a way that gave an illusory impression.

This technique needs lot of time and hard work, but this initial technique was very clever and successful. It was used for a long time in animated films and cartoons. The purpose of these was to make the image generation process easier and quicker. Today, there are several modern ways to generate images easily. Here are some animation techniques that are most commonly used.

1. Cut Piece Designed Shapes: In place of hand drawn figures, designed shapes are used and their motions are recorded step by step. They can be replaced by some other designed cut shapes. These cut shapes can also be used over the hand drawn figures also. Although simple and bit easy to work with, but there is problem of coordination if two designs are being worked simultaneously and also the movements are bit odd looking.

2. Stop Motion or Puppet Animation: In this type of animation, the puppets and models are used. These models are made up of materials like plastic, metal, wire, rubber or any material which can be mold to make different shapes. These models are generally three dimensional objects. These objects/models/puppets are kept in a specific frame and photographed; then a slight change in their position is made and photographed again. Similarly large number of photographs are made and run with a specific speed to obtain moving images video.

3. Movement Capture AnimationTechnique: This is a computer aided technique. In this animation, the actions of human actor are recorded and then digitally transferred to computer to make amazing animated characters. The Avatar movie falls in this category of films.

4. Animatronics Type: In this category, remote controlled or self controlled mechanical animated characters are filmed with real human characters thereby producing astonishing animation series. Movie Jurassic Park falls in this category of animation.

5. Rotoscopic Animation Technique: This category of animation involves the framing and sketching of real actions done by the human characters. These frames and sketches are traced to the computer digitally, thus resulting into a very new world of animation.

6. CGI or Computer Generated Images: Computers have made the task of making animation films comparatively very easy though they are bit costly too. Wire frame models of special imaginary characters are prepared on the computer using special animation software. These models are then completed with body, skins, colors and special textures etc. to give astounding views and shapes.

7. Backgrounds for the animated movies and the video games are created on computers itself. Special sound effects are also prepared using the help of modern computer software.

The animation techniques have made it possible to simulate the futuristic scientific and biological models which cannot be created in reality. This quality helps scientists to make better understandings of the old past and future too.

Animation And Multimedia Industry In India

The world of animation is full of excitement and vigor. Generally, animation means to impart life in characters that exists in virtual reality. It is a field of science that takes you to the virtual world. It is a world that doesn't exist or is unrealistic. Very few of the Institutes in Bangalore offer degree courses in Animation and Multimedia courses, among them Wiztoonz is on top position. It is only since recent times that 3D Animation Colleges had started showing up in the state.

The Animation Industry in India has evolved in the last 10 years. It has definitely come a long way since Dadasaheb Phalke made the first animated movie with matchsticks, coins and stop motion camera techniques way back in 1914.Now days it is an emerging form of media. It is growing into a multi-billion dollar industry generating a great scope of employment for those who wanted to try their hand in this field. Though it sounds interesting but it requires great effort and caliber to master it. The various steps that are involved in this are story writing, story boarding, character sketch, concept creation, Modeling, Environments, Rigging, Character and Mechanical, Lightening, Textured, Dynamics, Voice recording, Digital editing, Vfx, final film.

The 3D Cartoon Animation will undergo sound design, SFX, VFX, dubbing and rendering. All elements from the movement of the hair to the twinkle in the eyes are considered to create a real ambience in the 3D Cartoon Animation and not just a flat image that talks or moves.
